For some people, purchasing a baby gift can be a laborious undertaking. Especially if you don’t have kids, or it’s been awhile since you’ve had to purchase baby items. Also, where can you find a stylish baby gift without spending a ton of money?   Look no further than Yellow Bear Shop! This online baby store will make it easy for you to find the perfect baby gifts.  My top 5 stylish baby gifts suggestions are:

Diaper Cake
A diaper cake is constructed of disposable diapers arranged in layers and held together by ribbon and accessories. Not only is this a very unique gift, but it is quite practical.

Gift Basket
Baby gift baskets are convenient since they include several items a new parent will need. You can pick a theme such as Baby Einstein, princess, puppies or baseball. Gift baskets are always classy and in style.

Personalized Book
A personalized children’s book is very thoughtful as it can grow with the child. Personalize this gift with the child’s name, family members and friends.  This is a trendy gift surely to become a treasured keepsake.

Gift Sets
A gift set is a great all-in-one gift. From baby layette for boys or girls to onesies shaped like cupcakes packaged in a plastic cupcake container.  A gift set can be quite sophisticated or casual and is sure to be appreciated.

Stroller
The stylish Abiie Stroller is one of the most functional strollers out there. It comes with a built-in diaper changing platform!  The recipients will be forever grateful for this elegant necessity!

Remember, when shopping for stylish baby gifts, you don’t even need to leave your house — purchasing online is easy with Yellow Bear Shop.  All of these items can be shipped and a free gift enclosure or personalized ribbon is available with the gift baskets purchases.

If you’re like me, sometimes it’s difficult to create a delicious meal with the ingredients you currently have on hand.  Well, no longer will you have to spend hours scanning recipe books or different websites to come up with that perfect meal.  I found a fabulous website that will help you whip up a stylicious meal in no time!

Supercook.com is a recipe search engine that finds recipes using only the ingredients you have available.  Type in the contents you have in your pantry or refrigerator and the search engine will give you different meals based on your information.  Last-minute dinner planning will become easy and less time-consuming.

For instance, I’d like to cook tilapia filet tonight.  I entered these ingredients: Tilapia, diced tomatoes, white wine.  The result was Easy Tilapia with Wine and Tomatoes.  Not only is this an easy dish to prepare, but it’s also healthy.  I will let you know how it comes out!

Try out Supercook and leave me a comment on how your meal turned out!

Good Skin is In June 30, 2010

Finding the right skin-care products can be overwhelming, time-consuming and down-right expensive.  We have so many products to choose from; but only a few actually work for our skin type.  Well, I found a website that will help you select the right products for your skin type and you don’t have to buy a thing!

Myskin provides expert skin-care advice to help you find effective products that work just for you.  Myskin does not create, sell or promote products — their job is to provide information and tools to help you make better decisions when it comes to your skin regimen.

How does it work?
First, go to their website — Myskin.com and sign up.  Next, you’ll create a skin profile so you can tell them all about you and your skin characteristics.  Then, you’ll build a virtual product shelf.  You will select all of the products you’ve ever used and/or currently use via a drop-down menu with over 150,000 products across all brands.  Once all of your information has been added in Myskin will produce an unbiased product recommendation for your skin. This technology was created by leading dermatologists, plastic surgeons and cosmetic pharmacologist using a sophisticated algorithm.

You can use your final results to create your own personalized skin-care routine or as a shopping tool when buying products.  Either way, instead of spending unnecessary money on products that don’t work, you’ll be armed with information exclusive to you.

If you found this article helpful, please leave me a comment.  Also, once you try out Myskin.com, I encourage you to let them know about your experience with their website.

4 Must-Have Handbags to Complete Your Stylish Look June 23, 2010

Filed under: Fashion — Living Life in Tampa Bay @ 11:18 pm

When creating your personal style, handbags are an important factor in your completed look.   Whether you consider your style eclectic, classic, trendy or conservative, having an appropriate handbag is important.  Here’s my pick on the 4 Must-Have handbags to complete your stylish look:

Work Tote
I consider the Work Tote the most important since it will get the most use. This bag will carry your “everyday”  items you need to get through the week. It’s typically large enough to carry files, laptop, makeup bag, wallet and a sandwich or piece of fruit. Your work handbag should also be the most expensive bag you own (not necessarily designer), but durable and constructed very well to withstand the everyday wear and tear. Tip: Construction of the zippers, closures and handles will give you insight into the durability of the bag as well as the piping along the edges of the bag.

The Trendy Handbag
This handbag is your fun bag. Carry this bag to jazz up certain outfits.  Colorful, embellished or quirky are some of the words I’d used to describe this handbag. Also, there is no need to spend a lot on this style since the shelf life will be short.  Tip: Trends are cyclical and will come around again (the cycle seems to get shorter). So shop clearance items to find a trendy bag that’s not too outrageous, it’s sure to last  more than one trend season.

The Casual Weekend Bag
This Casual bag is typically carried on the weekends while you’re out running your errands.  Therefore, it should be large enough to hold a few items.  This bag pairs perfectly with shorts, t-shirts and sneakers, jeans and cute top or a summer dress and flip-flops.  Usually made out of canvas  it’ll be easy to care for. Tip: Don’t spend a lot on this bag because you’ll probably want a couple of these cute weekenders in different colors.

The Clutch or Evening Bag
Replace your work tote and casual bag with this cute little bag when heading to a party or dancing at the club.  You’ll only need the essentials (credit card, driver’s license, lipstick and cellphone) while out for the evening. There are so many styles to choose from, you’ll definitely want to pick up 2 or 3 evening bags. Tip: Never carry your work tote out in the evening. Do you really need your entire wallet contents, full make-up bag, files, etc. while you’re enjoying an evening out?

Snacks to Pack For a Road Trip June 1, 2010

Filed under: Food & Drink — Living Life in Tampa Bay @ 9:29 pm

My husband and I are road warriors in that we love taking road trips no matter the distance! Recently, we took a short ”road trip” out-of-town for a family emergency. Regardless of how long or short our trips are, we always pack our food.  It’s hard enough to try to eat healthy daily, but even more difficult while traveling.  After experiencing so many road trips, I have come up with the perfect snack items to make our trips healthier.

My favorite snacks to pack:

  • Nuts (almonds, cashews, mixed nuts)
  • Pre-cut granny smith apples
  • Granola cereal
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Dried Bananas
  • Turkey wraps
  • Pre-cut veggies (cucumbers, carrots, yellow squash)
  • Water (pre-fill in your own containers)
  • Cooler (pack ice so you can keep the veggies, apples and turkey wrap chilled)

What are some of your favorite snacks to pack for road trips?

My Top 5 Favorite Desserts May 26, 2010

Filed under: Food & Drink — Living Life in Tampa Bay @ 10:33 pm

Hello Dessert!
Dessert can be the perfect ending to a great dinner. It can be a swell beginning to a long night. Or it can be comfort food for no reason at all! Desserts don’t have to be complicated and fancy. Some of the most tastiest desserts are dressed in the simplest packages.

Throw a Dessert Party
If you want to get especially creative, invite your friends over for a dessert party! They’ll love you forever. You can pick a theme and guests can bring toppings or ingredients built around your theme. Or everyone can just bring their favorite dessert (enough for everyone, of course!)  Nothing too complicated.  Also, don’t forget to have beverages on hand. Create a signature drink, in addition to dessert wines and coffee liqueur drinks.   Your friends and family will start to view you as a stylicious hostess!

My Top 5 Favorite Desserts
(1) Creme Brulee
(2) Lime Sorbet
(3) Mango Gelato (365 Caffe Italiano-Wesley Chapel)
(4) Banana Creme Cheesecake Cheesecake Factory
(5) Carrot Cake (Publix - yes, I said Publix!)

6 Ingredients To a Delicious Meal With Style May 25, 2010

Filed under: Food & Drink — Living Life in Tampa Bay @ 8:15 pm

Sometimes it’s so hard to create a stylish meal in a pinch. However, I have the perfect meal that you can whip up in minutes — just in case you have impromptu guests!  This meal only requires 6 ingredients that you should always keep on hand.

Creamy Tuna Bow-Tie Pasta
Bow-Tie Pasta (8-10 oz)
2 cans of Tuna (or whatever you desire)
1 jar of Alfredo Sauce
Mushrooms
Frozen Vegetables (Any variety)
Shredded cheese (your preference, I use Italian blend)
Salt/Pepper to taste

Cook the pasta according to directions on package. Saute the mushrooms in olive oil – put aside. In a separate bowl mix the tuna, alfredo sauce, frozen vegetables and mushrooms together. Add in the cooked bow-tie pasta to the mix.  Pour this mixture into a casserole dish rubbed with olive oil.  Sprinkle the cheese on top. Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes.  You can sprinkle crushed crackers on top if you like.

This has been my go-to meal for a few years and it gets more delicious each time.  You can also substitute in chicken, shrimp or salmon instead of tuna.  This dish will bring out the stylish cook in you every time!  Enjoy.

My Love Affair with the Blackened Salmon & Spinach Salad May 23, 2010

Filed under: Food & Drink — Living Life in Tampa Bay @ 9:13 pm

Last night Hubby and I went out for dinner to Mitchell’s Fish Market – Tampa.  I went with friends the previous weekend and enjoyed the food so much, I decided to share my new find with Hubby. I warned him it would be delish!  I ordered the Blackened Salmon Spinach Salad — I had no idea this simple dish would be one of the most tasteful meals I’ve had in a long time. It contained spinach, thinly sliced granny-smith apples and red onions, roasted pecans sprinkled throughout with a small amount of sweet and sour vinaigrette dressing.  The salmon was served on the side.  Simple, yet flavorful.

We all tend to have our favorite food that we know will never let us down.  My food style has always led me to grilled salmon, but never with a spinach salad.  Initially I was a bit apprehensive but I knew I loved salmon and took a chance on the rest of the ingredients.  Next time you’re out for dinner, stay true to your food style, but elevate your choice and order a dish that’s different, but complements your food style.
